| Discovery Museum | Pond Creek Restoration and lab supplies The Discovery Museum conducted clean-up and restoration of Pond Creek, which flows through a pond behind the museum and into Arcade Creek. Work included lining the creek banks with native plants and river cobble to prevent erosion. Also, additional microscopes were acquired for use during the six week summer camp and for special Girl Scout programs. |

| Phoebe Hearst Elementary School | Native plant garden and watershed school fair Fifth graders grew an IPM-based native plant garden along the American River and hosted a school-wide Watershed fair to teach students and the community about the importance of caring for the American and Sacramento Rivers. Native plants were presented as one way of helping our land heal, because they are adapted to this area, require less water, and do not require harmful chemicals to maintain healthy. |
| Sutterville Elementary School | Saving Our Bees Sixth graders studied the causes and effects of bumble bee Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and the impact pesticides have on bees and other insects in local watersheds. Grant funds were used for field research and helped develop and produce a DVD used by students at school assemblies and parents’ night events. |

| Discovery Museum | Owl Creek restoration This project continued the next phase of stabilizing the banks along Owl Creek which runs through the Discovery Museum grounds and flows into Arcade Creek, Volunteers completed the work. Microscopes were acquired for use in the summer school classes were students learned about aquatic life and the role of a healthy watershed to the greater Sacramento area. |

| Sutterville Elementary School | Water Quality and Habitat Grant funded construction and study of burrowing owl habitat at Stone Lake Refugee, and vernal pool education at Mather Park Vernal Pools. Students promoted what they learned about raptor life in the watershed to local media, their school, and at a parent’s night celebration. |
| Phoebe Hearst Elementary School | Native Plants and Watershed Health Students purchased scientific supplies and hosted a watershed fair at their school, and constructed viewing ramps around vernal pools at Mather Park. Students wrote press releases and promoted their activities to local media. |
